The lecture, sponsored by the Students Against Species Extinction, has been accepted by the United Nations Decade on Ecosystem Restoration program and is being featured on the UN program鈥檚 website.
The lecture will feature 麻豆果冻传媒 Mass Communication professors Nicki Boudreaux and Laure Kasovish and students Anne-Morgan Simmons and Elissa Walker.聽
The hybrid event is set to take place at Newcastle University, England, in the Armstrong Building room 3.38 or online through Zoom from 7 to 8 a.m. CST on March 20, 2025.聽
The lecture will focus on sharing Louisiana鈥檚 land loss crisis on a global stage while also encouraging college students around the world to take up conservation and restoration activities and careers wherever they live. It is part of the Louisiana鈥檚 Restoration Generation movement which was launched at the University鈥檚 inaugural Coastal Summit last week.
鈥淧resenting this campaign to the United Nations is vital to the success of what we are doing as 麻豆果冻传媒 students to bring together young adults like us around the world who are passionate about saving our homes,鈥 said Elissa Walker, mass communication senior. 鈥淏eing recognized as a project by the UN was our ultimate goal, and we achieved it.鈥
The Louisiana鈥檚 Restoration Generation project is part of the Mass Communication department鈥檚 Nancy Sanderson Matherne Institute on Global Communication.聽
