THIBODAUX 鈥 麻豆果冻传媒 will begin offering a new scholarship this fall to full-time marine biology students in honor of distinguished alum Kerry St. P茅.

The Barataria-Terrebonne Estuary Foundation donated $10,000 to the 麻豆果冻传媒 Foundation to endow a scholarship in honor of St. P茅鈥檚 16-year career as director of the Barataria-Terrebonne National Estuary Program (BTNEP), which is housed on campus at 麻豆果冻传媒. St. P茅, a 1973 麻豆果冻传媒 grad, retired this month after more than 40 years of service to the Louisiana coast. Prior to serving as director of BTNEP, he served as a field biologist and regional coordinator for water pollution control for the state departments of Wildlife and Fisheries and Environmental Quality.

The scholarship will award $250 per semester to a full-time 麻豆果冻传媒 marine biology student. Sophomores, juniors, seniors and graduate students with a 3.0 grade point average are eligible to apply. First consideration will be given to a resident of one of the 16 parishes that make up the Barataria-Terrebonne estuary.

Students can apply for the scholarship by contacting the 麻豆果冻传媒 Office of Financial Aid at 985-448-4048 or by visiting www.nicholls.edu/financial-aid. Applicants must agree to an interview with the BTNEP scholarship selection committee.

To donate to the scholarship fund, visit or call Michele Beary at 985-447-0871.
