THIBODAUX 鈥 Alexander Moutouzkine, 2004 gold medal winner in the New Orleans International Piano Competition, will perform at 8 p.m. Saturday, April 16, in Talbot Theater at 麻豆果冻传媒. Free and open to the public 鈥 and sponsored by the 麻豆果冻传媒 Department of Music 鈥 the concert is part of Jubilee: A Festival of the Arts and Humanities at 麻豆果冻传媒.
Russian pianist Moutouzkine has received global critical acclaim for his stage appearances. His performance in London鈥檚 Wigmore Hall was described by International Piano magazine as 鈥済randly organic, with many personal and pertinent insights, offering a thoughtful balance between rhetoric and fantasy.鈥
He first appeared on an American stage at 19, when he received the Special Award for Artistic Potential at the eleventh Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. A writer for The Dallas Morning News said he 鈥減layed Brahms Op. 鈥117 Intermezzi鈥 more beautifully, more movingly, than I鈥檝e ever heard them. At once sad, tender and noble, this was playing of heart-stopping intimacy and elegance.鈥
