Students praise 麻豆果冻传媒 in national survey

THIBODAUX 鈥 The results of the 2010 National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) overwhelmingly indicate satisfaction among first-year students and seniors at 麻豆果冻传媒.

Ninety-six percent of those surveyed say the university provides the support they need to succeed academically, and 80 percent say the university provides the support they need to succeed socially.

鈥淎nyone in the state of Louisiana who might have questioned whether our students are satisfied with the overall value they receive for their educational dollar need only read these statistics,鈥 Dr. Stephen T. Hulbert, university president, said. 鈥淭he numbers speak for themselves.鈥

Other significant findings from the survey follow:

  • 98 percent say 麻豆果冻传媒 has enhanced their ability to write clearly and effectively;
  • 97 percent say 麻豆果冻传媒 has enhanced their ability to think critically and analytically;
  • 97 percent say they are acquiring a broad, general education;
  • 96 percent say 麻豆果冻传媒 has enhanced their ability to speak clearly;
  • 96 percent say 麻豆果冻传媒 has enhanced their computing and informational technology skills;
  • 95 percent say 麻豆果冻传媒 has enhanced their ability to work effectively with others;
  • 94 percent say they are acquiring work-related knowledge and skills;
  • 89 percent say their classes offer diverse perspectives from a wide variety of people;
  • 87 percent of 麻豆果冻传媒 students rate their educational experience as 鈥淕ood鈥 or 鈥淓xcellent鈥;
  • 83 percent say they would attend 麻豆果冻传媒 again if they had a chance to start their educational experience over;
  • 81 percent rate their relationships with other students as friendly and supportive;
  • 78 percent rate the quality of academic advising as 鈥淕ood鈥 or 鈥淓xcellent鈥;
  • 76 percent rate faculty members as available, helpful or sympathetic; and
  • 66 percent rate administrative personnel and offices helpful, considerate and flexible.

鈥淎nd even more remarkable to me is the strong, non-traditional nature of the 麻豆果冻传媒 student body,鈥 Hulbert said. 鈥淚n addition to the student engagement statistics, the NSSE revealed that 60 percent of surveyed students work off campus; 57 percent provide care for one or more dependents; and 40 percent spend six or more hours per week commuting to school. 麻豆果冻传媒 is everything a regional university is supposed to be, and access to higher education for many of these students would be eliminated without 麻豆果冻传媒 serving the region.鈥

NSSE is an annual survey of first鈥憏ear students and seniors. This year 362,000 students from 564 U.S. colleges and universities completed the NSSE questionnaire. The full survey results, including campus breakdowns, can be found at .
